Parent Trust for Washington Children has a 40-year history of helping families thrive through Great Starts™ childbirth and new parent classes.

Whether you are a first-time parent, or simply need a refresher course, we have classes for you! Our expectant and new-parent courses are based on the latest research and presented with diverse learning styles in mind. That way, everyone has the knowledge, experience, and confidence they need to be prepared for birth and baby. We also provide a warm, welcoming environment for all types of family structures, and offer opportunities for you to build community among your fellow classmates. Our classes are offered in-person and online.

General Information

Our classes are offered both online and in-person.

For online classes we use Zoom Meetings (no membership or account required). Just click through to register and choose Zoom as your class location.

Class fees can be found by clicking a Register Now button and filtering for the class you’d like to attend.

Scholarships are always available. Choose your class and call us 206-789-0883. No proof of income necessary.

Apple Health (WA state health insurance) covers one birth series for the pregnant person and a partner or support person. Just have the pregnant person’s Provider One card number handy when registering online for class. Apple Health won’t pay using the non-pregnant person’s Provider One card, so ask us for a scholarship instead.

If you don’t have Apple Health, your insurance company may offer reimbursement for class. Please call them to find out more. The following information may be helpful:

Military Discount: A 5% discount is available for any class or series of the immediate family member(s) of an individual in active military duty. Contact registration at GreatStarts@parenttrust.org for your unique coupon code.

Fees apply:

Single Session classes (BabySafe, Conscious Fathering, Better Birth Refresher, Working with Labor)

  • If you make the request more than 5 business days before your class, we’ll refund or transfer your payment with a $10 fee.
  • If you make the request 5 business days or less before your class, we’ll refund or transfer 50% of your class fee.
  • If the class has already taken place, we are unable to offer a refund or transfer the fee.

Multi-session classes (Any birth series)

  • If you make your request more than 5 business days before your class begins, we’ll refund or transfer your payment with a $20 fee.
  • If you make the request 5 business days or less before your class begins, we’ll refund or transfer your payment with a $40 fee.
  • If your class has already started, please call 206-789-0883 or email greatstarts@parenttrust.org

Medical events and emergencies

If you are unable to attend due to an unscheduled medical event or emergency, please reach out when you are able and we will transfer you to a new class to the best of our ability. If a suitable class cannot be found, we will refund your class fee.
