All My Friends Are Dead >>
By Avery Monsen
Ages 10+
Summary:
From the sock whose only friends have gone missing to the houseplant whose friends are being slowly killed by irresponsible plant owners (like you), All My Friends Are Dead presents hilariously entertaining stories about life and existential predicaments. The simple yet effective imagery, the personification of inanimate objects, and short, hilarious quips come together to create an amusing adventure through each character’s unique grievance and wide-eyed dilemmas.
Marni’s comments:
This was recommended by Parent Trust’s Executive Director, Linda, who said she and her son cracked up numerous times reading this book. I burst out laughing by the second picture. It’s funny, and a little creepy and disturbing…not for the very young who won’t get the humor.
The illustrations are perfectly matched with the hysterical, short “quips” that make up this story. A combination of jokes and puns that will be completely over the head of your little ones. Darkly funny and best for children 10 and older (and parents who appreciate twisted humor).
